a fantastic viewpoint
From the site, you’ll get as spectacular views as from mountains, and this is really where hikers walked along the original Inca Trail into the archaeological site.
The climate of the area is generally as hot and humid as the beginning of the jungle. It’s cold at night though, so you’ll need some layers for early morning hiking.
CLIMB HUAYNA PICCHU
The classic photograph of Machu Picchu that everyone seems to take always has a large jutting rock in the background. This rock is called Huayna Picchu and can be climbed to the top to enjoy one of the best views of the site and the surrounding mountains. However, only 400 people are allowed to climb it per day, so you should book tickets in advance. If you arrive at Machu Picchu very early in the morning, you can still get one of the last tickets but don’t count!

a fantastic viewpoint
The Torreón is one of the most important buildings in Machu Picchu and one of the finest examples of Inca etiquette that can be found. It is believed that the Temple of the Sun was used for astronomical observations in the past.
